Mission Statement

The mission of this SIG is to promote, advance, and socialize ITAM & FinOps Best Practices in order to enable both disciplines to collaborate better and be more efficient and effective in serving the needs of modern hybrid organizations.

Problem Statement

In many organizations, the FinOps and ITAM functions are separate and collaboration is insufficient. As a result, the FinOps function may not be fully aware of software licensing entitlements, metrics & costs in the cloud (BYOL, Marketplace, and other), and may therefore provide inaccurate and/or incomplete optimization recommendations and/or reporting on cloud cost. At the same time, ITAM may not be fully aware of software consumption in the cloud, and may therefore provide inaccurate and/or incomplete optimization recommendations and/or reporting on software costs across the organization.

The scope for this SIG shall include all technology environments in which FinOps & ITAM disciplines are applicable.
