The FinOps Landscape provides information and context to the FinOps community about FinOps Foundation member’s tools and services.

This hub will enable practitioners to explore tools, training and services that can help them address their FinOps challenges. At the same time, the FinOps Landscape provides a hub for showcasing FinOps Foundation organization members that are invested in contributing to the FinOps community.

What problem are we solving?

With so many FinOps tools and service providers, it’s hard for the FinOps practitioner community to know which solutions help with which FinOps capability. Practitioners are often faced with the challenge of finding the right solution from an unwieldy and diverse landscape of FinOps tools and service providers.  The FinOps Landscape will enable you to explore solutions that can help address your FinOps challenges.

What is the F2 FinOps Landscape? 

The FinOps Landscape is a web based discovery service hosted on the FinOps Foundation's (finops.org) website. It provides you the ability to explore solutions that can help address your FinOps challenges.

How do I get started with the F2 FinOps Landscape?

Navigate your browser to finops.org/landscape and use the filters provided to explore the FinOps tools and service providers that correspond to your FinOps needs.

What organizations are in the FinOps Landscape? 

The FinOps Landscape is currently focused on helping practitioners explore solutions to their FinOps challenges from the organizations that of FinOps Foundation members.

Why are organizations that are FinOps Foundation members in the FinOps Landscape?

Serving as the hub for the FinOps practitioner community, the FinOps Foundation is uniquely positioned with data and partnerships to bring together a trusted neutral unified view of FinOps tools, training and service providers that prioritizes the needs of the FinOps practitioners. The organizations that have become F2 members are invested in contributing to the FinOps community, along with the individual community members, to provide insights into the constantly evolving landscape of FinOps tools & service providers. This ecosystem enables the Landscape to remain relevant as practitioner needs change.

Will the FinOps Landscape include FinOps tools and service providers which are not members of the FinOps Foundation?

Not at this time.  The FinOps Landscape is focused on bringing together a trusted neutral unified view of FinOps tools and service providers that are invested in contributing to the FinOps community as organization members.

Does the F2 FinOps Landscape include open-source solutions and platforms?

Yes!  The FinOps Landscape includes open-source projects by FinOps Foundation organization members that are founding maintainers of the project, in collaboration with our practitioner community.

What open source projects are included in the FinOps Landscape?

FinOps Foundation organization members that are founding maintainers of an open source project that helps FinOps practitioners successfully adopt cloud financial management practices aligned with the FinOps best practices.

Does the F2 FinOps Landscape provide recommendations or endorse products and service offerings?

No. This is not a ranking or rating system. While we understand there is demand to rank FinOps tools and service providers, the FinOps Foundation aims to be a neutral space for the entire FinOps community. The FinOps Landscape provides details about the FinOps tools and service providers, and engagement in FinOps, which helps to inform your decisions.

How are Landscape cards sorted?

Landscape cards are sorted alphabetically and then by tool/service provider (FCP, FCS, or FCSP) certification.

Why do some Landscape FinOps Tool cards have a FinOps Certified Platform badge?

This badge denotes the tier of technology providers that have been certified by the FinOps Foundation to license and deliver a software product, or are founders/maintainers of an open-source project, that helps people successfully adopt cloud financial management practices aligned with the FinOps best practices.

Why do some Landscape FinOps Tool cards have a FinOps Certified Specialty Solution badge?

This badge denotes the tier of technology providers that have been certified by the FinOps Foundation to license and deliver a software product, or are founders/maintainers of an open-source project, that contains a subset of the functionality found in the Certified Platforms and solves for a specific part of a cloud cost management challenge.

Why do some Landscape FinOps Service cards have a FinOps Certified Service Provider badge?

This badge denotes the tier of professional service providers that have been certified by the FinOps Foundation to consult with enterprises about cloud financial management and help their clients with best practices.

Why do some Landscape FinOps Training cards have a FinOps Certified Training Provider badge?

This badge denotes the tier of vetted training partners that have been certified by the FinOps Foundation to have deep experience in cloud financial management training.

In the FinOps Landscape, what do the items with the "Specialist" designation mean?

The term "specialist" represents the set of FinOps tools and service providers that have features and/or consultant offerings which are focused to a specific technology or specific FinOps challenge.  By comparison, items without the specialist designation represent the set of FinOps tools and service providers that have features and/or consultant offerings which address a broad set of technologies and challenges related to multiple FinOps Framework Capabilities.

In the FinOps Landscape, what do the items without the term "Specialist" next to them mean?

In the context of the FinOps Landscape, these items represent the set of FinOps tools and service providers that have features and/or consultant offerings which address a broad set of technologies and challenges related to multiple FinOps Framework Capabilities.  By comparison, the term "specialist" represents the set of FinOps tools and service providers that have features and/or consultant offerings which are specific to a technology or FinOps challenge.

What does the Landscape category "FinOps Services" show when selected?

The FinOps Services category will surface the professional service providers with consultant offerings that address the set of technologies and challenges related to FinOps Framework Capabilities. FinOps Service providers are consulting/advisory professional services that help FinOps practitioners adopt cloud financial management practices aligned with the FinOps standards. FinOps Service offerings may include implementation of custom software and/or the deployment of technology solutions as part of their professional services offering.

What does the Landscape category "FinOps Tools" show when selected?

The FinOps Tools category represents the set of FinOps platforms and tools that have features which address the set of technologies and challenges related to FinOps Framework Capabilities. FinOps Tool providers build, license and deliver a commercial-off-the-shelf self service software product, that helps FinOps practitioners successfully adopt cloud financial management practices aligned with the FinOps standards.

What does the Landscape category "FinOps Training" show when selected?

The FinOps Training category represents the set of FinOps Foundation certified training partners with deep experience with cloud financial management offering FinOps Certified Practitioner training.

What does selecting the certification called FinOps Certified Platform show?

The Landscape will show the tier of technology providers that have been certified by the FinOps Foundation to license and deliver a software product, or are founders/maintainers of an open-source project, that helps people successfully adopt cloud financial management practices aligned with the FinOps best practices.

What does selecting the certification called FinOps Certified Specialty Solution show?

The Landscape will show the tier of technology providers that have been certified by the FinOps Foundation to license and deliver a software product, or are founders/maintainers of an open-source project, that contains a subset of the functionality found in the Certified Platforms and solves for a specific part of a cloud cost management challenge.

What does selecting the certification called FinOps Certified Service Provider show?

When applied, items from the "Capabilities" list represent the set of FinOps tool and service providers that have features and/or consultant offerings which address a broad set of technologies and/or challenges related to FinOps Framework Capabilities. In the context of the FinOps Landscape, FinOps tools and service providers solve for a specific Framework Capability. By comparison, items from the "FinOps Specialization" drop down list provide FinOps tools or professional services that focus on, and specialize in, solving for a specific technology or challenge related to a FinOps Framework Capability.

What does the Landscape show when items from the "FinOps Specialization" list are applied?

When applied, items from the "FinOps Specialization" list represent the set of FinOps tool and service providers that have features and/or consultant offerings which are focused on addressing a specific technology and/or challenge related to FinOps Framework Capabilities. In the context of the FinOps Landscape, "Solution Specialists" solely focus on, or specialize in, solving for a specific FinOps Capability and are surfaced on the page through applying filtering actions labeled "specialist". By comparison, "Platforms & Services" provide FinOps tool or professional services which address a broad set of technologies and challenges related to a FinOps Framework Capabilities.

Does the F2 FinOps Landscape include tools and service providers that are not organization members of the FinOps Foundation?

Not at this time. The FinOps Landscape is focused on bringing together a trusted neutral unified view of FinOps tools and service providers that are members actively contributing to the FinOps community.

Will the F2 FinOps Landscape provide additional searchable attributes and filter criteria in the future? 

Yes! We are always open to feedback from the FinOps community. We aim to add the search dimensions that make the FinOps Landscape most useful to practitioners and avoid explicit or implied ranking/scoring for quality.

Do organization members need a completed profile page to be included in the FinOps Landscape? 

Yes! The information provided in the profile page is intended to enricjh the FinOps Landscape data by providing supplemental details, community resources and contribution references. Additionally, by keeping their profile information up-to-date, organization members are invested in helping the FinOps Foundation and contributing back to the FinOps community.

Is the FinOps Landscape a guide for buyers considering purchasing FinOps solutions and service providers? 

No. The FinOps Landscape is not designed to be a solution for FinOps tool or service provider selection. Think of the FinOps Landscape as a way to discover and explore all the vendor solutions matching your FinOps criteria. Using the set of FinOps tools and service providers surfaced, you are able to proceed with your selection process

What does it mean to be a FOCUS Adopter?

FOCUS Adopters are FinOps Tools that are working towards becoming FOCUS specification conformant. They have publicly referenceable documentation announcing they have adopted a version of the FOCUS specification enabling their tool to support producing, importing and/or exporting FOCUS datasets. Note the FinOps Foundation has not vetted these claims or reviewed these vendors for the upcoming vendor conformance program. The FOCUS Steering Committee defines FOCUS Conformance Certification criteria for tool vendors and data providers. Conformance certification provides criteria to evaluate those who generate or consume FOCUS datasets intended to align to the FOCUS Specification; work to define this criteria is in-progess currently. Once defined and published, the FinOps Foundation will perform the evaluations to determine which FinOps Tools are meet FOCUS Conformance requirements for certification. Once evaluations are completed, these FOCUS Conformant Certified FinOps tools will be listed in Landscape.

What is required to be listed on the Landscape as "FedRAMP compliant"?

This FinOps Landscape desgination is reserved for FinOps tools and cloud service offerings which have achieved either a FedRAMP Authorized, FedRAMP Ready, or FedRAMP In Process status and are listed on the FedRAMP Marketplace for FedRAMP-compliant cloud service offerings and tools that have undergone the FedRAMP authorization process.

What is required to be listed on the Landscape as "GDPR compliant"?

This FinOps Landscape designation is reserved for FinOps tools and service providers with publicly referenceable documentation announcing they have implemented the necessary measures and practices to adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.

What is required to be listed on the Landscape as "SOC 2 compliant"?

This FinOps Landscape designation is reserved for FinOps tools and service providers with publicly referenceable documentation announcing they have implemented security controls and practices that meet the System and Organization Controls 2 (SOC 2) criteria established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and have undergone an audit by an independent third-party auditor receiving either a Type I or Type II report.
